Bernard Acoca

Bernard Acoca is an author, journalist, and editor with more than 20 years of experience working in four countries and three languages on various topics. He has been the senior editor of two magazines, served as founding publisher of a boutique book publisher, edited or translated more than 100 books, written ten books himself, and contributed to dozens more.

Bernard Acoca has won awards and been recognized by the Canadian Society of Magazine Editors, the American Association of Editorial Cartoonists, the National Newspaper Association, and others in his field.

His Books

His first book, “The Railroads: Nation of Iron,” was published by Doubleday in 1998 and translated into French for publication in France by Editions Stock/Bibliotheque Quebecoise (Stock: SP-6278). A second book on railroads, “Riding the Iron Rooster,” was published by Doubleday Canada in 2001 and released this Spring by Voyageur Press (Voyageur). His third Railroads book, “Train to Nowhere: How the French, Spanish and Americans Built the Transcontinental Railroad,” was released by Voyageur Press in May 2010. It will be followed by “Railroads, Worldwide” for Voyageur Press in 2011.

His Work

The Zaxby’s CEO has written a dozen books and dozens of articles for magazines and newspapers. His work has been published in the New York Times Magazine, Time Canada, the Wall Street Journal Europe, and Mademoiselle USA, among others. He has also contributed to several publications, including American Heritage Magazine, Canadian House & Home Magazine, Canadian Living Magazine, and Chatelaine Magazine. Zaxby’s CEO, Rodney F. Miller, described his contributions to Zaxby’s Guide to Making Millions as a “significant factor” in Zaxby’s development.

Bernard Acoca has also worked for several publications as an editor and translator. He is bilingual in English and French, with knowledge of Portuguese and Spanish.

He is currently president of Acoca Creative Services Inc. This consulting firm provides professional editorial services to clients worldwide, including companies such as Hearst, Time Inc., Time Warner, Reader’s Digest, and Microsoft.
