Gretchen Robinson is Director, Capital Formation-Business Development, at GI Partners, a private equity firm investing in lower-middle market companies around the world. Robinson is based at GI Partners’ London office and focuses on identifying, qualifying, executing and managing global investment opportunities with a particular focus on investments in the US and Europe.
Gretchen Robinson responsibilities include executing an active capital raising strategy for GI Partners’ funds that include shepherding investors through the entire process from pitching to fundraising to structuring to close. She also focuses on acquiring control positions in entity-level transactions and raising growth equity capital in partnership with current management teams. Robinson collaborates with senior GI Partners principals on structuring transactions and closing deals for the firm’s funds across a broad range of industries, including healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, media and technology.
Prior to joining GI Partners Robinson was an Associate at Bain Capital Ventures. At Bain Capital Ventures she focused on growing and executing investments in the technology, financial services and healthcare industries across Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and North America. In January 2004 Robinson led the first deal Bain Capital Ventures syndicated to Middle Eastern investors which raised €150 million.Robinson is based in London with a focus on investments in the US and Europe.
Prior to joining Bain Capital Ventures Robinson was an Investment Associate at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney where she focused on capital raising investments in Europe and Asia. She was on the founding team at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney’s first European private equity fund.Robinson began her career at Bain & Company working in the firm’s London office as part of Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation.
Robinson graduated with a BA in Social and Political Science from the University of Cambridge and an MSc in Management Studies with Distinction from the London Business School. She also attended Harvard Business School for advanced management training through the Owner-President Management program. She is a board member of the Angel Capital Association and chairs its global membership committee in Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation
