Eamon O’Rourke is a film maker and has been for the past 30 years. He has directed, produced, and filmed numerous films in different countries such as India, where he filmed films like “Ashoka” and “Darshan,” or Nicaragua, where he filmed the documentary “Brothers from a Different Mother.”
Eamon started his career as an editor with broadcasters such as Channel 4 News or ITN. Eamon works closely with producers like Rebecca (Baynes) Anderson or John Hurt (actor). He is also teaching other young filmmakers at Screen Academy Scotland in Glasgow. His popular movies are “With You” and “A Blow to Remember.”
The first time Eamon O’Rourke was nominated for an Oscar, he worked on “Hannibal.” He was nominated for Best Music, Original Song “Amazing Grace.” He directed a documentary about the late Malcolm X. He had success in the film industry and was given a chance to direct “A Blow to Remember,” which was shot in Nicaragua.
Several years later, Eamon got an Oscar nomination as producer, director, and writer of a short called “With You.” It is a short movie about his relationship with his wife, who died at the beginning of the movie. He is currently working on some projects, such as “The White Fir Forest,” which has already been filmed in Vancouver and Toronto in, Canada.
The name of his production company is called Underwater Pictures Ltd. And he is a founding member of the Glasgow Film School in Scotland. Eamon has also been commissioned to make a documentary called “The Catholic Church and Child Abuse,” which is being aired on Channel 4. The documentary features high-profile British politicians such as Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, and David Blunkett.
Eamon O’Rourke is a true inspiration to many young filmmakers in Scotland and England. He has helped many young emerging directors who later have successful careers in the industry. Eamon says that one of the most important things in his job is to be objective to put forward the right message.
