Robert Kraft is an American billionaire businessman. He is the chairman and chief executive officer CEO of the Kraft Group, which consists of Kraft Foods and Mondelez International. He also owns the Major League Soccer team, New England Revolution.
His Achievements
Robert Kraft started his business in 1983 by joining the family business, Kraft Foods. In 1991, he was appointed president of the company’s Nabisco Holdings. 2 years later, he was promoted to CEO and, in 2000, added chairman to his title. Kraft assumed the role of CEO and chairman of Nabisco Holdings after it merged with Philip Morris Companies. During his time at Nabisco’s helm, Kraft turned around operations at Nabisco Bakeries from a $200 million loss to a $100 million profit. He also led two successful spinoffs from the company: Kraft Foods and Cadbury plc.
In 1984, Kraft launched his first business venture: Kraft Nabisco. He acquired the rights to Nabisco’s Oreo cookies and sold them under his brand name. According to Bloomberg Business Week, the company prospered, growing to $2 billion in six years and yielding Kraft a personal fortune of $1.5 billion.
Kraft was also the chairman of Cadbury plc 2000 and 2009, a British multinational confectionery company owned by Mondelez International. It operates in over 100 countries and has revenues of more than £7 billion ($11 billion) from its global confectionery business.
Robert Kraft was also the chairman of Cadbury Schweppes between 2009 and 2012 when he stepped down due to his illness. Kraft is currently the chairman and co-chief executive officer of Mondelez International.
Robert Kraft is a member of the National Football League’s expansion committee. Kraft is ranked at the top among NFL owners in terms of net worth, according to Forbes Magazine.
