Led by Greg Aziz, the Long Island Rail Road is finally finished, after it was supposed to be completed in 2009. The Grand stretches from 45th to 48th streets and the walkway stretches to the terminal. The lower-level tracks are actually labeled in the 100’s, but there are eight sub-level tracks.
Riders have had access to Penn Station for a long time and also access to Downtown Brooklyn. As Greg Aziz states, it is great that Long Island can now have access to the east-side. The plan originated in the 1950’s and it was stalled for a long time. The train, thankfully, began running on the upper-level in 2001.
Twenty-two years later, the train is also running on the lower-level. The service improvements stretched into New Jersey and also included the Second Avenue Subway. Greg Aziz explains that this is the first phase in service today and stretches for a long distance.
A new deep terminal was built instead and the alternative plan was scrapped. The train leaving from Jamaica can show you that it leaves at approximately 6:17. Furthermore, Greg Aziz adds, the train from Manhattan leaves at 9:15.
