Haroldo Jacobovicz is an exceptional entrepreneur who has left
an indelible mark on the technology industry. With a background in civil
engineering, his journey into the world of information technology began in the
1980s. Instead of pursuing a career in construction, Haroldo was drawn to the
potential of IT services and hardware. Since 1990, he has been at the forefront
of companies in this field, founding a telecommunications operator in 2010
called Horizons Telecom and a computer virtualization startup in 2021 called
Arlequim Technologies.
Born in Curitiba, Brazil, Haroldo is the eldest of four
siblings. His parents, Alfredo and Sarita, both civil engineers, seemingly
influenced him to follow a similar path. However, it was the allure of the
unknown and the opportunities it held that captivated his imagination. Always
curious about what was happening in the world, he avidly read newspapers and
magazines, using them as inspiration for his innovative ideas.
Haroldo possesses the rare ability to see beyond the visible
and transform ideas into solutions for management, productivity, and
development. This knack for identifying opportunities, combined with hard work
and a little luck, led him to co-found Microsystem with three friends before
graduating from university. Their aim was to automate inventory and cash control
for small businesses such as shops, pharmacies, and supermarkets. Although the
venture closed within a year due to the market not being ready for
computerization, it served as a valuable learning experience.
Undeterred by this setback, Haroldo sought out new
challenges and found himself working for Esso, now Exxon Mobil Corporation, a
multinational oil distribution company . Within a short span, he went from being
a reserve salesperson to a market analyst in the southern region of Brazil,
eventually becoming responsible for commercial tactics and new business
ventures at the company’s headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. This role involved
working with computer-processed data, further deepening his understanding of
the potential of computing technologies.
Inspired by his experiences in the corporate world, Haroldo
decided to return to his original plan of starting his own technology business.
Drawing on his knowledge gained from multinational and state-owned companies,
as well as his brief entrepreneurial stint, he had a fresh pers pective on the
industry. Thus, he founded Minauro, a company specializing in computer leasing
and maintenance, primarily targeting government agencies. The innovative
solution of offering four-year contracts with machine replacements every 18
months, along with maintenance services, gained significant traction and won
numerous bids in the South and Southeast regions of Brazil.
Motivated by his passion for creating innovative projects ,
Haroldo founded Arlequim Technologies. This startup aims to provide
cost-effective solutions to improve computational performance for both
individuals and businesses. By enhancing the capabilities of outdated
computers, Arlequim Technologies allows users to enjoy the benefits of
cutting-edge technology without the need to invest in new devices.
